COUPLES RELAY
FORT COLLINS, DENVER, COLORADO SPRINGS

The Couples Relay (TM) race is where teams of two runners, race against other teams in a relay format. Each member of the team runs one 5k to 4 mile lap. Races are planned for Fort Collins, Denver, and Colorado Springs.

The race consists of two laps around a 5k to 4 mile course. The first runner on the team starts, runs the course and then proceeds to the Runner Exchange Zone. At this time, runner #1 hands their baton to runner #2, who then runs the course to the finish. Teams will be ranked on their total time.

What is a "Couple?"

A team is two runners and can be Female/Male, Female/Female, or Male/Male. Runners and walkers are welcome.

Besides the obvious (husband/wife, boyfriend/girlfriend, and all other significant other parings), other team ideas are parent/child, pairs of siblings, grandparent/-grandchild, two friends, or, take advantage of this opportunity and invite the person you've been admiring from afar.

Categories are based on the total age of the team.

Registration is now open for races in Denver, Colorado Springs, and Fort Collins.

July 20th - Colorado Springs - America the Beautiful Park

NEW DATE! August 17th - Fort Collins - City Park

The Couples Relay (TM) will benefit the Blazeman Foundation for ALS.

On May 2, 2005 twenty-year Multi-Sport veteran Jon Blais, a.k.a. "Blazeman," at age 33 was diagnosed with the fatal motor neuron disease ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis), commonly known as "Lou Gehrig's Disease." Blazeman dubbed himself the "ALS Warrior Poet" and brought his battle to the big island of Hawaii on October 15th that year, where he became the first person with ALS to complete the Ironman World Championships. It was his last race. In 2006, a number of athletes, inspired by Jon’s 2005 efforts, rolled across the finish line in Hawaii in honor of Jon and his battle against ALS. In 2007, the Blazeman Foundation for ALS expanded Team Blazeman, comprised of "Blazeman Warriors" who have committed to raising awareness and funding a search for a cure for ALS... so others may live.

The Blazeman Foundation for ALS is a 501(c)3 non-profit (Tax ID# 20-8526311) that rose out of efforts from Jon's own determination and perseverance, his family's commitment, a family of ALS Warriors, and response from a Multi-Sport Movement who answered his call to wage War on ALS.
